CLAN HISTORY
There are a lot of resources available on the history of Clan Mackay. Here are some of our favourites.
Titanic and the Highlander
George William Mackay from Skerray died aboard Titanic. George was from a crofting family and was setting off to join his sisters who were already settled in America.
Thank you to Janet Baker who recently made this short video about this sad story.
Hon. Elizabeth Fairbairn
It is with great sadness we announce the death of the Hon Elizabeth Fairbairn, past President of Clan Mackay Society, who passed away peacefully on Thursday 18th March after a very short period in hospital. Our condolences are with her three daughters, Charlotte, Anna and Francesca and their families.
Elizabeth was a lady of great charm and dignity who carried out her duties for Clan Mackay with quiet effectiveness and as a huge support to her late brother Hugh and more recently to her nephew, Aeneas, Lord Reay as he took on the role of Clan Chief. She will be sadly missed.
It is hoped there will be a reason to celebrate her life at a later date. Elizabeth had many interests and filled prominent positions in Edinburgh particularly in the worlds of the Arts, should you wish to recognise her life and work donations should be made to a particular love of hers Live Music Now - Scotland :https://www.justgiving.com/livemusicnowscotland
